ASSIGNMENT 2 – CASE STUDY
As a nursing studies student, it is important to understand the concept of human development and behaviour from infancy to old age.
The brief will present as a case study. The case study will contain sufficient information to
provide a natural and realistic description of a client’s situation and needs. You will be required to deliver a response that demonstrates the knowledge and skills required to contribute to meeting the needs of the client.
The tasks are as follows:
- Introduce your assignment setting out your aims and objectives.
- Present a case study of a client in a care situation (client profile, abilities, disabilities, health conditions).
- Identify the normal stages of development
- Identify and discuss at least two protective factors and two risk factors that affect human development across the lifespan.
- Identify and describe the normal domains of development (physical, cognitive, social and emotional) making reference to appropriate theorists for your client group.
- Identify the different needs of your client in each domain of development.
- Devise a care plan in order to meet the needs of your client
- Identify and describe at least two strategies for meeting the needs of your client’s family.
- Discuss 2 strategies to help your client integrate into the community.
- Outline 2 pieces of legislation that is relevant in supporting your client.
- Identify 5 interpersonal qualities required when working with your client and outline how you applied them to your client’s situation.
- Discuss appropriate therapies and interventions to meet the needs of your chosen client to enhance his/her lifestyle. Identify at least 2 needs which are being met in the situation and explain why this is the case
- Identify, if any, needs that are not being met Make appropriate recommendations to meet unmet needs.
- Summarise/conclude your assignment and reference sources.
