NSG 318: Topic 3: Drug Therapy and Life Span Considerations / NSG 318: Introduction to Pharmacology

Topic 3 is focused on special medication considerations in the pediatric and geriatric populations and problems associated with client adherence to medication regimens. Students will complete the CLC group assignment. This is a graded deliverable that will be uploaded to the assignment dropbox.

Objectives:

1. Differentiate components of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics specific to pediatric and geriatric clients.
2. Identify medication safety principles specific to the pediatric and geriatric populations.
3. Recognize social, economic, and cultural factors that affect clients’ medication adherence throughout the life span.
4. Describe the nursing implications related to drug therapy in the pediatric and geriatric populations.
