Assessment Task: Written Reflection
Minimum Secondary Research Source Reference Requirements:
Level HE4 – It is expected that the Reference List will contain between five and ten sources. As a MINIMUM the Reference List should include one refereed academic journal and three academic books.

Learning Outcomes Assessed:
LO4: Reflect upon the importance of integrity in academic work, whilst considering personal and professional effectiveness within your role as a Pre-Registration Student Nurse. Developing action plans for future development and best practice.
Assessment Task:
Produce an 800 word written reflection upon the importance of integrity in academic work, whilst considering personal and professional effectiveness within your role as a Pre-Registration Student Nurse. Your reflection needs to include a personal action plan which will enable you to develop your practice in the future and which promotes best nursing practice. Your reflection needs to include references throughout.
Declaration:
At the end of the assessment you should also include a declaration of any software tools including Generative AI (GAI) applications that you used in developing and completing the assessment.

Unit Aims
The aim of the unit is for learners to understand the health and safety responsibilities within their role, how to manage and carry out risk assessments and the importance of complying with health and safety requirements.
Learning Outcomes and Assessment Criteria
Task 1 of 2: Legislative Framework and Compliance Briefing Report
- Unit Learning Outcomes Covered: LO 1 and LO 2
- Assessment Criteria Covered: 1.1; 1.2; 2.1; 2.2; 2.3
Assignment Brief and Guidance: You are required to prepare a briefing report about the legislative framework for health and safety and the importance of compliance. The report must use examples from real-life work practices or research from media sources.
The briefing report should:
- Explain the legislative framework for health and safety in a health and social care setting.
- Analyse how policies, procedures and practices in own setting meet health and safety requirements.
- Explain how to support others to comply with health and safety requirements.
- Explain the consequences of non-compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Explain the importance of record keeping in relation to health and safety.
Delivery and Submission:
- Submission is a briefing report in Word format.
- Recommended word limit is 1000 words excluding diagrams, references, and appendices.
- Referencing: Use Harvard Referencing style , with a complete bibliography.
Task 2 of 2: Risk Assessment Report
- Unit Learning Outcomes Covered: LO 3 and LO 4
- Assessment Criteria Covered: 3.1; 3.2; 3.3; 3.4; 3.5; 4.1; 4.2
Assignment Brief and Guidance:
Part A:
- Research the types of risk assessments used in health and social care settings and carry out a risk assessment.
Part B: As part of your risk assessment you should include:
- An analysis of how to work with individuals and others to manage potential risks and hazards.
- Examples of how to implement the outcomes of the risk assessment.
- A review of own and others practice in promoting a balanced approach to risk assessment.
Part C: As a conclusion to your risk assessment:
- Evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety practice, policies and procedures in the work setting.
- Recommend changes to practices, policies and procedures to ensure safety and compliance in the work setting.

- Submission is a risk assessment report in Word format.
- Recommended word limit is 2000 words excluding diagrams, references, and appendices.
- Referencing: Use Harvard Referencing style , with a complete bibliography.
