Purpose of the Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to assess whether students are able to:

LO2: Understand the value of reflective practice in fostering personal and professional growth; and explore different methods of undertaking reflective practice.

LO3: Apply reflective practice to evaluate personal and professional values, performance, working style, interests, motivations, skills, and attributes; and identify development needs by comparing oneself with current and future career roles.

LO4: Develop and understand how to implement a personal development plan that includes lifelong learning and growth opportunities. Ensure the plan aligns with short-term, medium-term, and long-term professional and personal values, interests, and objectives.

Information and Instructions to Learners

  • This is an individual report.
  • Submit your report in PDF format via Microsoft Teams before 11:59 pm, 18 October 2024.
  • Word count: 3,000 words (+/- 10%), excluding appendices and reference list.

This assignment aims to:

  • Enable you to assess personal and professional values.
  • Guide you in developing and implementing a Personal Development Plan (PDP).

Assignment Task

You are required to submit a report after exploring Reflective Practice, Personal and Professional Values, and Personal Development Planning. The report should:

  • Discuss reflective practice frameworks and approaches.
  • Identify personal and professional values.
  • Develop a Personal Development Plan.

Tasks

1. Reflective Practice Frameworks

  • Discuss the importance of continuing personal and professional development in achieving individual and organisational objectives, and examine how reflective practice supports this.
  • Research and describe at least two different reflective practice approaches or frameworks.
  • Provide examples of how each approach can be applied in a professional setting.

2. Assessing Personal and Professional Values

  • Identify your core personal and professional values using relevant tools and frameworks.
  • Reflect on how these values influence your professional behaviour and decision-making.
  • Discuss any potential conflicts between your personal and professional values and explain how you would address them.

3. Self-Assessment: Evaluating Own Performance in the Workplace

  • Using reflection, evaluate your own performance in the workplace, which may include a current/previous job role, voluntary work, or team/group role.
  • Write a reflective account considering how your working style influences your performance and those around you.
  • Identify development needs based on your reflection that align with your current and future roles, and outline opportunities to address these needs.

4. Developing and Implementing a Personal Development Plan (PDP)

  • Develop a Personal Development Plan focusing on short-term, medium-term, and long-term objectives and career goals.
  • Identify specific actions, resources, and timelines required to achieve these goals.
  • Discuss how you will monitor progress and revise the plan as needed.
