Objectives:
- Examine the psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual influences; signs and symptoms; risk factors; and protective factors related to the experiences of abuse, neglect, and violence across the life span.
- Utilize the nursing process to develop, implement, and evaluate an evidence-based, client-centered plan of care for clients who are victims or perpetrators of abuse, neglect, or violence.
- Recognize the physiological effects of drug-facilitated sexual assault, including alcohol, ketamine, flunitrazepam, and gamma-hydroxybutyric acid, to determine appropriate, safe nursing care for the client.
- Utilize therapeutic communication to promote safety and trust with clients experiencing abuse, neglect, or violence.
- Identify the nursing responsibility and priority response in an active violence situation.
