Assignment Requirements:

What am I required to do in this assignment?
A panel discussion with an accompanying 1,000-word position paper  exploring key themes within the unit from a range of disciplinary perspectives (45 minutes) 
The assignment comprises:

  • Position paper (1,000 words) giving a critical summary of the theme from your stakeholder perspective
  • 2-minute introduction (with the panel discussion) based on the position paper
  • A panel discussion of 30 minutes where each stakeholder will answer and respond to questions

  • Research and synthesize citizenship and welfare issues from a specific perspective
  • Probe and articulate key themes within the unit from a specific perspective
  • Question and analyse responses of others
How do I produce high-quality work that merits a good grade?
  • A consistent and critical articulation of a particular stakeholder position in relation to your topic
  • An ability to respond to queries reflecting the viewpoint of that stakeholder group
  • A critical discussion of how the topic interacts with theories, policy and practice in relation to citizenship and welfare
How does this assignment relate to what we are doing in scheduled sessions?
There will be sessions focusing on preparing for the debate. Theories and topics around citizenship and welfare are discussed throughout the unit.
