Guidelines

The assignment will be completed over six weeks. The assignment will demonstrate knowledge of record keeping and data protection in ELC settings. Knowledge of records used in practice, their individual requirements and application is required. To achieve this, research will include the types of records required by an ELC setting as stated by the Child Care Act, 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016. As a guide, word count should be approximately 1600-2000 words.

Assessment Criteria

Evidence for this assignment must include the following:

  • An outline of the purpose and main areas of compliance of the Child Care Act, 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016 (which is based on the Childcare Act 1991 – Part VII). (3 Marks)
  • An examination of three records, relating to the safety, health and welfare of children, one of which must be the record of Pre-School Child (Regulation 15). The examination should include how these records are applied in line with regulation, policy and procedure (3 x 5 Marks)
  • An evaluation of the responsibility of the ELC practitioner in relation to safeguarding data and record keeping as outlined by the: (3 x 5 Marks)
