You are moving to a new place and you need to plan the set-up of two of the rooms in your new home. You get to choose which two rooms you’d like to arrange! The furniture pieces are up to you. You may put as much or as little furniture in the room as you want, but you must create at least one triangular set-up of furniture in each room – two triangles altogether. Room Choices: Entertainment Room Living Room Dining Room Bedroom Home Office Here’s your job: Select the two rooms you would like to arrange. Each room must have at least three pieces of furniture from which you can construct a triangle. At each vertex, you should have a piece of furniture. You can label it, draw a picture, find an image online, or anything similar that will identify what each vertex represents. Three pieces of furniture should make up each triangle. Construct the two triangles with the placement of your furniture: one triangle must be constructed using a construction program such as GeoGebra, and one triangle must be constructed using a compass and straightedge. Both triangles must be different types of triangles and the type of triangle must be labeled on your picture. If you’re feeling festive you can decorate and be creative with your room! Answer the following reflection questions using complete sentences: Which triangles did you select for each room and why? What are the steps you took to construct the triangle using the compass and straightedge? What are the steps you took to construct the triangle using the drawing program? Which method do you prefer: compass and straightedge or drawing program? Why? How do you think interior designers use triangles in their career? What other occupations may use triangles in their jobs? To Submit: In order to submit your assignment, you must copy and paste your images into a word processing document. For the triangle you create by hand, you can either scan the image or take a picture of it and upload that to your computer. For the triangle you create using a construction program, you can save the construction as a picture file. Include both images with your final assessment (either as attachments or copied into a word processing document) along with answers to the reflection questions.
