(3) Reread your work to ensure you covered these things in your summary: Name of the article, Authors, Date, and publisher; describe what the research article is about; where was the study conducted and who was the target population? What was the main purpose of this research study? What question was the research study trying to answer? How was the model/theory used? What concepts/constructs from the model were used and how were they used? What methods were used? What were the pros/strengths and cons/weaknesses/limitations of the study? What were the results of the study? Were they important? What conclusions were made? How could the results of this study be helpful to health educators? Quality of work requirements: Minimally, the content of summaries must be factual, scientifically based, and appropriately referenced. Answers cannot be copied directly from the text or other sources. Answers must be in the student’s own words. Assignments submitted for credit must be the original work of students currently enrolled in this course and collaboration with classmates is not permitted. All work must be written in formal academic language that is free of spelling and grammar errors. Grades are awarded using this criteria: Followed instructions, clearly utilized guidelines (linked above) to craft response, covered all relevant information in summary (listed above) Content was appropriate and accurate (i.e. the questions were answered correctly using material presented in the article and adequate in length and content) Response was thoughtful and demonstrated understanding and effort (i.e. responses were easy to understand or appeared to be a product of work and revision rather than last minute) Response was written in formal academic language and free of spelling and grammar errors (i.e. capitalized words; used punctuation; organized in paragraphs) Criteria for Success: Excellent work will reflect a thorough understanding of article content as demonstrated in accurate and thoughtful summary with no/few grammatical errors. Points are not awarded for simply turning something in or trying your best. Rubric provided below.
