This is a short research project on the Caste system in India today. How is it viewed within India today? (Be sure to consider views in both Indian cities and rural areas.) What have been its good and bad effects? What keeps it alive and what has made it change? How might it look in 2030? Pay particular attention to similarities and differences in the pronouncements of Hindu and secular leaders. A good way to find information on current thought is to investigate recent news stories and politicians’ remarks from the Internet. This investigation is a good opportunity to discuss not only the bad aspects of the caste system but also its valuable aspects.
