Drawing on assigned material from recent weeks, explore the relationship between identity, stigma, and shame. Your primary goal in this assignment will be to analyze an example of how stigma and identity management work in a digitally mediated context. But before you dig into your example, you must first lay some groundwork by introducing the sociological concepts that drive your analysis. For example, you may ask: How are identities formed and performed, and what are some of the most common ways that identities change? How might stigmas affect one’s identity, and how might these experiences differ? How does context shape if/how stigmas are applied, and what strategies people use to manage stigma? After laying this groundwork, begin presenting your own original analysis. Using an example, examine how traditional (Madianou) and new forms of media (Duguay) create new challenges and opportunities for a stigmatized individual’s identity management.
Remember, ensure that the pages are exclusive of the cover and the reference pages. Also, ensure that you include all the references you use in finding research for this assignment paper. References should be at least three for the paper. All references, citation, and writing should follow the APA formatting and styling guidelines. Finally, ensure you focus on the assignment topic in detail.
