First Formative Assessment: 

Students will watch several scenarios that will be made available on Blackboard. Each student will choose one scenario and explore the relevant legislation and legal frameworks. Students should identify and explain the key legislation illustrated in their chosen scenario and be prepared to share with peers. Each student should speak for a maximum of three minutes. This information will form the basis of the 2,500-word first summative assignment. 

First Summative Assessment: Essay- Legal Scenarios and Conferences 

Students will submit a 2,500-word essay related to one of the scenarios. This will include a discussion of the relevant legal frameworks they discussed in the formative assessment and their application to the situation, the collaboration between healthcare professionals involved and the professional role of the nurse related to the legal framework. 

The essay will appraise the interventions and decisions made by the case conference. The students should also discuss the impact these discussions could have on the patient and their family.
