Amazon and the Card-Not-Present Dilemma
You are the director of fraud investigations for Amazon.com. Over the past year, Amazon has suffered a significant increase in card-not-present fraud. Most of the fraud has involved card numbers that have been stolen and used online. Currently, your company processes CNP transactions by obtaining the card number, expiration date and CVV or CVC number on the card, the cardholder’s name and address. Amazon will also allow purchases to be sent to third party addresses.
Your Chief Operating Officer has assigned you the task of creating a new policy in which some sort of multifactor authentication can be used to help reduce CNP fraud without a major inconvenience to the customer and affecting sales. Please come up with an action plan to help reduce CNP for Amazon.
