Here are the steps you will take in writing your blog.
Pick a cultural group of interest to you. Remember that culture encompasses many different aspects of a person’s life, such as: age range, socioeconomic status, language, ethnic/racial identification, sexual/gender identity, geographic affiliation (rural, suburban, urban, inner city, e.g.), religion/faith, ability/disability, educational status, and more. Find several sources on this cultural group that will support the information you are disseminating. Research your cultural group as relates to the topic. Identify 2-3 sources. One source must be peer reviewed literature from the Excelsior Library. One source can be from a highly credible government or other healthcare source. The third can be in either category.
Write an original, creative, compelling, and evidence-backed blog that informs the staff of best practice strategies for communicating with your chosen population about vaccinations. Be sure to apply at least some of the 5-step planning process as described in your textbook in your blog post. (For example, you will be sharing what you learned in the discovery step. You will likely want to share communication objectives and specific strategies.) Feel free to use images, as well, to add to the persuasive facet of your communications.
Help your staff audience understand this population. While this is an “old story” in terms of the decades-long battle to maintain immunization levels in communities, it is a very real and current story for the people of this community. This also includes some on your staff. Be compelling and persuasive, and also culturally sensitive.
Here are the logistical expectations for the blog post:
Length should be 3-4 paragraphs at most.
You will need a minimum of two external highly credible references, in addition to course readings.
Single spaced, with a space between paragraphs will enhance readability.
Please copy/paste blog post into the text box, so that your colleagues in the course can read the posts easily. Do not attach as a document.
Use APA formatting for you in-text citations and reference section.
