Be sure to respond to at least one post from a classmate. Your first post should be made by Wednesday, June 16th, and your response post should be made by the end of the weekend.
1. What is carrying capacity? How does this relate to the Earth Overshoot Day discussed in the NYT article? Give another example to illustrate your explanation of carrying capacity, and include a discussion of what might cause the carrying capacity of your example to be exceeded.
2. Is it possible to feed the global population? If yes, why do so many people still lack access to adequate and nutritious food?
3. Do you think human population growth poses a threat to food supply? Why or why not?
4. What factors contribute to food insecurity? How do patterns of food insecurity relate to larger social and economic contexts?
5. How might food insecurity be addressed? Who should be responsible for addressing it? Do you feel you personally have a role in this effort? If yes, what can you do?
