COMM 2003: Problem-Solving Report (10%)
INSTRUCTIONS
In this assignment, you will recommend a solution to a problem in business. Your recommended solution must be based on your analysis and evaluation of the investigation and research you have done. Remember that in order for your recommendation to be accepted, your report must be persuasive.
You need to identify and choose a business problem that requires a solution. The problem can be in any field in business such as Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Health & Safety, and Operations.
Your problem solving report needs to be a maximum of 2 pages. The audience is the Board of Directors.
In your 2-page report, you are required to recommend a feasible solution to the Board of Directors.
FORMAT OF REPORT
The required format of the problem solving report is the following:
a brief summary of the problem and why it must be solved or fixed
a summary of the investigation and research you have done in order to develop a solution
your recommended solution
Your report needs to be submitted and addressed to the Chair of the Board of Directors. Although the report is addressed to the Board Chair, the primary audience for your report is the entire Board.

GRADING CRITERIA
Your report will be based on the following criteria:
Content and Development – 30 marks
This section considers the effective analysis and development of your recommendation:
Format – 20 marks
This section covers the design and format of your report.
Language Development – 20 marks
This criterion consists of grammar, spelling, language, tone, punctuation, and sentence structure.
Sources/References – 5 marks
Your report requires you to include references and sources from your research.
TOTAL MARKS: 75 marks
SUBMISSION
You need to submit your problem solving report through BCIT’s LEARNING HUB. You need to submit by dropping your report in the ASSIGNMENT category. You will see a submission for the problem solving report. Please do NOT email me your problem solving report as I cannot upload it for you. I will be marking your problem solving report online. If you submit your report by email, you will get zero.
Late assignments will have their marks reduced or get zero. Extensions will NOT be granted as you will be given enough time to complete this assignment.
Do the assignment through your own efforts. Plagiarism is not tolerated. In an event that you plagiaries another student’s work, you and the other student (s) will be reported to the Dean. As a result, this can result in expulsion from BCIT.
The letter assignment is an individual effort, not group work.
