Students will be required to engage in an online discussion where each student will be individually assessed. You will be given a scenario and a set of questions. Your answers to those questions should be supported by the academic literature and relevant frameworks. You will demonstrate the understanding of the basics of a business and management research, in particular: the research process and design; methodologies and methods that can be used in different situations; as well as the ability to find appropriate literature.
Assessment guidance (Scenario)
Scenario: You have been employed by the Marketing department at UDOL (university) and requested by your manager to collect data from the graduates of business programmes who have completed their degree within the past 2 years. Your goal is to evaluate the satisfaction rate of students and their career progression after completion of the studies.
- Formulate an overarching aim and 4-5 objectives for the research. Those objectives should help you achieve the aim.
- What research design would you choose and why?
- What methods would be appropriate for the chosen design?
- How small/large your sample will be?
- Technically discuss and explain your sampling technique.
- How the data collected can be used in marketing the programme in the future?
Remember that each answer must be justified. Academic literature, e.g. methodology/ research/ methods textbooks and frameworks must be used to support your methodological choices.
In facilitating collaborative activities and feedback, your engagement will be assessed based upon participation, and quality of your work in the discussion, academic writing skills and original thoughts.
