After our class video for this week’s unit on values, take some time to read the articles posted on Canvas, “ObizaanKidsBook” and “Teachings in Ojibwe for Book-with translation.” After consulting these course resources, consider the following questions:
How do you think values are learned, practiced, and perpetuated in a given community?
How were your own values shaped? Did someone tell you what your family/community values are? Did you witness people in your family/community practice the values that you believe in today?
Based on the reading and the lectures/video, what do you feel are Anishinaabe values? Give examples of how those values are still in practice from what you have either observed in Anishinaabe families/communities, or what you have heard about in this week’s lectures/video.
