Lab summary based on light experiment. You do not need to include chromatography results. Work should include 1 graph (e.g. bar graph) that shows your
net photosynthesis results (shown below) (last row of your data table) you should have 9 values.
You can either calculate an average for each light color or show each trial separately.
In addition to graph include:
1 page double spaced 12 pt font with a short overview of the experiment, descriiption of results and explanation of why you think you got those results. If
your results are not what you expected, speculate on why that might be. Please refer to handout from lab regarding chlorophyll and its absorption spectrum
to help interpret your results. Cite all sources
Effect of Light on photosynthesis:
A. Hypothesis
1. Recall the chemical equation that represents photosynthesis if the spinach leaf is photosynthesizing do you expect to see the carbon dioxide level in the
air around the leaf increase, decrease, or stay the same? Increase
2. Given what you know and learned during the chromatography of spinach pigments experiment, under what color light will the rate of photosynthesis be the
greatest? Under what color light will the rate of photosynthesis be the lowest? Why
White light is the greatestas it is a spectrum of all light colors so it is not limited it can process through every color.
Green would be the lowest as it already processes green from being green so it does not absorb it.
