After writing The Prince, Machiavelli gained a reputation as one of the most despised men in Europe. Did The Prince deserve such a reputation? Discuss some of the major arguments of The Prince. Consider comparing these arguments with how Renaissance rulers were supposed to govern, and how they actually did govern.
