Task:
Often, entry-level engineers need to convert sketches or 2D plans into coordinated 3D models for other engineers to collaborate with. For this project, you will look at the Steam Services building. Within Steam Services we will recreate from the drawings the bays bound by the following grid lines in 3D in Revit.
The grids are: 9 to 11X and A to F.
Level are: basement up to and including the roof
This portion of the steam services modeling will focus on the Architectural systems. Model as much as you can model and as close as possible). Consider the list below:
• Levels at proper height and elevations. (Coordinate and plan for the call out of the drawing. i.e top of steel or floor or finishes as they will eventually be modeled).
• Grids that are in the bounded areas (they need to be on all levels. Also note that some level may have single level lines).
• Architectural Aspects
Floors
Ceiling and finishes (tiles, drywall, etc) (match size and material as best you can)
Wall Types (match size and material composition as best you can)
Doors (match size and frame as best you can)
Windows (match size and frame as best you can)
Ignore the following:
Structural members
Foundations (walls are acceptable though if they double count for architecture of the basement.
furniture and fixtures
Paint and finishes beyond the typical material designations
There are some complex wall shapes around the corner opening. These can be approximated so to simply the corner modeling. It must look correct but the interior of that wall can be simplified.
Submission Structure:
The project will be submitted in two sub parts to aid in spreading the work out into smaller chunks. Please see canvas in regards to deadlines for each of the two parts. Check the course canvas page for specific dates.
• Sub-Part a:
Part a will feature: the full architectural gird and levels for model, The architectural features listed above for only the basement and the first floor.
• Sub-Part b:
Part b is to feature all of part 1 features plus the remaining features to complete the list described above.
For both sub-parts, please submit the model in Revit format rvt. In addition to this, please also submit in a pdf file a few images (3-5) of the model. Furthermore, provide a concise description on how you approached the modeling, including any struggles you encounters and how you addressed them
