Explain the philosophical concept or problem fully being sure to note the relevant specific philosophers and their arguments and to cite appropriately.

Compose your answers on a single Word document and upload it to Canvas under the Final Exam module. You may begin the exam at any time and post it at any time before the deadline. Just as with any paper, you may stop and start again as often as you like within the exam period.

Directions:

Answer all of the following questions in roughly 500 words per answer. Answers that do not meet the word count will not receive any credit. You are expected to use direct text references to ground your arguments and cite appropriately. However, do not quote at length (no more than 3 sentences at a time) and be sure to explain why and how your quote or reference makes your point.

Number your answers on a single Word document (or less preferably, submit it through the text boxif you use this option, save your exam somewhere on your computer) and submit the document to Canvas. **DO NOT** submit a more than one document and do NOT submit documents in Pages, a Google Doc, or another type of shared document.

Proof read your essays. Use complete sentences and correct punctuation. Break your essays into paragraphs with topic sentences. I will not deduct points for minor grammar and spelling mistakes, but disorganized papers, papers written in one long paragraph, or papers rife with mechanical issues will be penalized.

Please make ample use of the readings and your notes for this class. Avoid using outside sources. If you use outside sources, provided a complete Works Cited page. A separate Works Cited page is not necessary if you only use the materials assigned for this class

Cite all references to the text using parenthetical citations with page numbers (MLA format). Failure to cite is plagiarism and will result in a 0.

Your answers should be wholly original. Do not copy and paste any part of your essay from another source. Exams will be screened using Turn It In to check for plagiarism. Any evidence of plagiarism will result in a 0 for the exam and failure of the class.

Complete this exam individually. Do not collaborate with your fellow students or anyone else on this exam. Any evidence of collaboration will result in a 0 for all involved.

Questions:

Which philosophical concept or problem from the class did you find most interesting and why? Be specific. Explain the philosophical concept or problem fully being sure to note the relevant specific philosophers and their arguments and to cite appropriately.

Can social inequity be solved? Using at least two thinkers (and their specific writings) from weeks 13-16 of our class, provide a detailed argument for why and how social inequity can be solved, or if you argue it cannot be solved, provide a detailed argument for why.

*Note: Your answers should NOT rely too heavily on one reading. If for example you want to write extensively about Virginia Held for question #2, do not make Held the focus of your answer for question #1.
