Examine how power, status, and influence operate as organizational dynamics in your own workplace environment. Take some time to think about where you fit in an organization with respect to these dynamics, and answer the following questions.
1. What are your goals with respect to power, status, and influence for the next five years of your career? For the next 10 years? (NOTE for perspective: I am currently an engineer (computer science) and run/manage 5 teams teams of 40+ people total.).
2. What positions would you like to attain and what would you like to accomplish along the way? How has learning about power, status, and influence processes shaped your professional goals?
3. What values would you like to adhere to in attaining these positions? Do you anticipate encountering any ethical dilemmas when applying your knowledge of these processes strategically to attain goals and increase leadership effectiveness? If so, please explain.
