Evaluation Narrative and Budget

Write a narrative that describes the evaluation of your proposed intervention and develop a budget for it.

Evaluation Narrative: The goal of a section devoted to evaluation is to illustrate how your organization plans to assess whether the methods selected accomplish the goal and objectives described in the grant proposal. To this end, consider the content of your post in your Importance of Evaluation discussion this week and the feedback that you received. Then, write a concise narrative that is intended to demonstrate to the funder that your organization can evaluate outcomes and determine whether they accomplish the stated objectives. Ensure your evaluation narrative is concise and concrete. In this section:

· Identify the objectives of the intervention.

· Define what your organization considers a successful intervention so that the data can be used to determine whether the intervention was or not successful.

· Describe the types of data to be collected.

· Identify the method(s) to be used for data collection, including comparison groups or baseline.

· Choose the instruments to be used for data collection.

· Develop the timeframe for the assessment plan (including data collection, analysis, and evaluation).

· Identify the person or persons responsible for collecting and analyzing data and conducting the evaluation.

· Explain how evaluation results will be used.

· Identify the recipients of the evaluation report (including funder, board, constituents, and community leaders).

Budget Section: The budget section is aquantitative summary of the proposal that substantiates the proposal, supports the objectives, matches the activities, and validates the amount requested as being reasonable and sufficient. To do so, it describes how the funds will be spent to support the proposed intervention and describes the applicant’s contributions and/or contributions from other funding sources. The budget is an estimate of what your cost will be.

Please use the format below to construct your grant’s funding request budget. Be sure to account for all aspects of your proposed intervention. Keep in mind that some items may not apply. Search the internet for facts and figures to complete the budget. Estimates do not need to be exact but they should be within a reasonable range.

In a real grant proposal, you are often asked to justify each expense item. Since the current budget is hypothetical, it is not necessary for you to provide a narrative that justifies each of the expenses listed.
