Your nurse manager has tasked you with researching the best practices to educate new mothers on correct positions for placing their baby to sleep. The sources used for this must come from scholarly peer-reviewed literature. The information you collect will be used to advise nurse educators at a local community center to assess the mothers’ understanding and relationship to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) prevention.
STEP 1: In order to evaluate the evidence found, you will need to find and describe qualitative and quantitative research. What is the main difference between the two? Which one is considered the gold standard in research & why?
STEP 2: Perform a database search on SIDS prevention; provide a quantitative and a qualitative article. Make sure to attach the two articles you located to the discussion posting AND the rationale for choosing each article. These articles must also be cited using APA 7th edition. These need to be research articles and not systematic reviews (NOT a meta-analysis or meta-syntheses) from a peer-reviewed scholarly journal.
Discussion Protocol. Please observe the following 3 x 3 rule: when writing your weekly discussions: – A minimum of three paragraphs per DQ. Each paragraph should have a minimum of three sentences. Remember that peer responses need to be substantive and extend the original discussion posting by making connections, relating to others’ ideas, and adding supporting detail. Refer to the grading rubric, to receive full credit each portion of the discussion posting must be addressed along with the 2 peer responses.
All answers or discussions comments submitted must be in APA format according to Publication Manual American Psychological Association (APA) (7th ed.) 2019.
