The “victim mechanism” is key to our reading from Girard. Show that you understand what Girard means by it and why it is important. Set up your essay by identifying what you believe to be a modern-day scapegoated group. Based on your reading, what does Girard think is Christian about its exposure? What conspires to keep it from being exposed? How does Girard think the world would (or should) be different once the victim mechanism is shown for what it is?
