TITLE: Education Philosophy
Introduction
You are now at the end of your Associate Degree classes. It is a good time to write your philosophy of education. A philosophy should include your thoughts about how children learn, what you believe about education, and the skills, knowledge and characteristics of an early childhood educator. It should be culmination of the knowledge you are gathered over the course of your degree. You will include this in your portfolio.The Assignment
Create your personal educational philosophy that explores your thoughts on how children learn and the skills, knowledge, and qualities of an effective early childhood educator. The philosophy should be a minimum of four paragraphs with each paragraph containing a minimum of 10 sentences.Here are some questions that should be answered as you are writing your philosophy:
- Describe the purpose of education and the role of a teacher.
- Describe your beliefs about how children learn ans include your approach to education. Consider addressing a few of these topics: Classroom Management, Instructional Strategies, Curriculum design, Diversity of Children, Inclusion, and Assessment.
- Explain how your educational philosophy aligns with the NAEYC standards.
- Describe your understanding of ethical decision-making based on your experiences during field experiences.
- Discuss your knowledge of ethics and professionalism in an early childhood setting.
Grading Criteria
- 10 points will be deducted for grammar and spelling errors
- 10 points will be deducted if there are not at least four paragraphs
- 10 points will be deducted if there are not at least 10 sentences in each paragraph.
- 70 points will be deducted if the content of the philosophy is not based on developmentally appropriate practice for early childhood educators addressing the prompts provided.
