1. Describe two parts of the Compromise of 1850, and which parts of the country supported those parts of the compromise. 2. Name two people documented in chapter 14 that fought against and resisted slavery before the Civil War, and describe what they did to resist. 3. Abraham Lincoln fought slavery through politics, John Brown fought slavery through violence, and legal slavery was extinguished through both politics and violence. Does this history show that oppression such as slavery can only be defeated through the use of violence, or was the use of violence counterproductive, not actually solving the heart of the problem?
