The assessment for this module is divided into two components.

In the first component (30% of overall grade – 2000 words equivalent)

you will complete a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) presentation on the impact of effective transitions for children with additional needs and their families, making recommendations for improving current practice in your setting (LO 1, 3, 4 and 5).

You are required, where appropriate, to draw on relevant policies, procedures and other documentation to underpin the issues that you raise.

In the second component (70% of overall grade – 3000 words)

you will complete an essay, critically analysing the material and strategies discussed in your CPD presentation (LO 1 to 5).

You are required to support your analysis by drawing on relevant legislation, theory and current research relating to transitional practices.

You need to demonstrate depth in your knowledge and understanding of the subject matter, interpreting and synthesising an extensive range of literature.

Throughout the CPD presentation and essay you are required to follow and implement the Harvard referencing method. You must include a full reference list which identifies all additional reading that you have undertaken and drawn on in the assessments.
