He believed that art served three crucial tasks in our life (the three E’s):
Exaltation; Edification (education); Entertainment (lifting of the human spirit)
There must be logical and well-developed ideas that are supported by specific examples from the production.
Determine the aesthetic worth of the work based on the successful use of theatrical elements.
There must be a variety of terminology, with emphasis on the theatrical vocabulary addressed in your book.
Correct theatrical language must be utilized.
When in doubt, use your text’s glossary.
You must submit a 3 to 4 page criticism (12 pt. Font/Double Spaced) of that film production.
Discuss each of the six theatrical aspects as they pertain to this show.
Each element should be worth a paragraph of discussion/description.
Audience, Performer, Script, Director, Theater Space, and Design Elements are the elements.
Some components will be easier to adjust for a filmed performance for your assessment than others. For example, if you can see the audience in the video, please describe them and their responses, or you may explain yourself and others you may have watched with – your age(s), your experience with watching theater, the sorts of things you generally enjoy to watch, and so on.
