Essay: Critical evaluation
Using the literature and the readings in this unit, students are asked to write an argumentative essay that critically evaluates the practice of language testing and assessment in an educational environment that interests them . Students may choose to evaluate testing procedures or alternative forms of assessment.
Demonstrate students’ deep knowledge and understanding of constructs of effective assessment that influence test taker’s competence and performance and how test-taker performance is interpreted.
Demonstrate students’ understanding of the changing nature of assessment practices in the current socio-political context and its consequences. It is important to provide sufficient evidence to support your argument, including examples of items or tasks.
