Instructions:
Write a maximum two-page double-spaced essay. This essay is not a summary of readings or critique. As this is a graduate course, you need to:
1) Identify what is the most urgent factor for your organization to motivate employees and initiate their engagement? You need to work on the same organization which you are looking into for a case study proposal. This essay is going to be a part of a case study proposal. For example, You might want to say that the city government I work at has leaderships (city managers and directors) who are pressuring employees to work with verbal punishments. It makes working environments more passive and has employees be willing to leave their positions .
2) Suggest your recommendations to resolve this situation. For instance, the organization (you chose) needs to rebuild its incentive systems from performance-based evaluations to peer-reviewed assessments for leadership positions. As an organization, there is no doubt that leaders are substantial important to encourage and interact with employees. Furthermore, previous literature on employee empowerment has described that verbal punishments discourage employees to be actively engaged in an organization and increase their willingness to turnover.
Just for a note, you need to choose public organizations (governmental organizations, state or local governments, and nonprofit organizations). If you have not experienced with public organizations, you can choose any public organizations that you are interested in. In addition, you can fully utilize course materials and your own experiences to support your diagnosis about the organization and suggestions.
