MGT2014 Entrepreneurship Assessment Brief 2025-26 | UoG
MGT2014 QuestionDescription of Activity
This is an Individual, Written assignment (Slide Deck).
MGT2014 Question
Prepare a presentation on PowerPoint with accompanying notes under each slide addressing each of the points below. This should demonstrate your understanding of the course and your ability to communicate that understanding effectively and concisely. Use the notes under each slide to explain the content of individual slides.
There should be 5 slides altogether (one slide per point as below), plus the front and the back slides. See more information below.
Bullet points (and visuals) on slides don’t count towards the words, while each commentary in the notes section should contain a maximum of 400 words. Your whole slide deck will therefore have up to 2000 words in the notes section (5 x 400 words = 2000).
You do not have to create a business to be able to meet the requirements of this assignment. Your goal is rather to show that you understood the concepts we have discussed in class.
Further Instructions
Imagine you have a start-up. Prepare a pitch deck to apply for the Techscaler Programme (funded and implemented by the Scottish Government), following the guidance below:
- Slide 1: Present your entrepreneurial aspirations, motives and intentions. Why did you become an entrepreneur? (hint: Weeks 1, 4 & 10) – 400 words in notes
- Slide 2: How did you start your business? (hint: Week 2) – 400 words in notes
- Slide 3: What business model do you follow? (hint: Week 3) – 400 words in notes
- Slide 4: How and what for do you plan to utilise Scottish Government / Glasgow Council support in the next 12 months – be specific about any funding, tax allowances, incentives, other support you could use (hint: Week 5) – 400 words in notes
- Slide 5: Why would you like to join Techscaler, and how can you contribute to its community? (hint: Weeks 6, 7, 10) – 400 words in notes
Additional notes
1. You don’t have to use in-text citations on your slides and in your slide notes; however, you must showcase through your writing and your reference list that you used appropriate literature to prepare the assignment
2. You do not have to build (or present) your venture (or build/plan one) for this assignment, but rather focus on your skills, experience and expertise as an entrepreneur, showcasing your engagement and understanding of the course
3. You are allowed to write in the first person when applicable
4. This is a very practical, hands-on exercise, which requires you to go above and beyond what you have learned in the course (e.g., by getting familiar with Techscaler, the support the government/council can offer your venture, etc.)
5. Your slides must not include sentences and crowds of text – you are encouraged to use bullet points, flowcharts and other visuals for that
6. Your notes, as they count towards the word limit, should be used as a basis to communicate what you are asked in this assignment , and they should refer to the designated slides
7. The Front and the Back page do not count towards the word limit
Slides and commentary will ideally be uploaded to Moodle in PDF format. Please find a video on how to create a PDF from PPT, including notes, here. However, also PPT format will also be considered.
You are not expected to create a business, nor do you need to present the slides. The slides should, however, be in a presentable format
