Written Report:
1. Name in 2-3 paragraphs detailing the community “need” your service-learning work is helping to address. Consider how this is a social or political matter by including statistics or other data from TWO outside sources to get some good research. For instance, if you were working to end human trafficking, you might explain that in NC, 38% of trafficking is in sex, 38% is in labor, and 23% involves sex and labor (Carolina Sex Trafficking Working Group, UNC, 2018). You might also include information on what are called “disposable domestics” and “sex slaves” who can be sold 10-40 times a day . How do the members of your service-learning site understand the social problem or issue they are working to address? Provide examples of the language members of your site use as they talk about the problem or issue.
2. Explain a bit about your service-learning activity. If you were working to pass legislation making trafficking penalties more severe, you’d include details of what you are doing and how you are enhancing the work of your community partner. Relate the problem and activity to at least 2 main ideas from any of our class readings or beyond. Feature one or more photographs of your work at your community partner location or the products you are working on remotely .
3. What does your service-learning site teach us about how we should understand the problem or issue? What is unique or compelling about how members of your site understand the problem or issue, compared to how people usually define the problem or issue?
Overall: Include references for your research (2 outside sources)
