“According to Freud, women were men deprived of penises (Cohler & Galatzer-Levy, 2008), hence the ‘penis envy’ which was responsible for much of women’s behaviour. Freud’s theory was based on a model where femininity had no place unless in relation to masculinity and women were seen as experiencing moral inferiority compared with men (Yadav, 2018).”
