Write a personal statement for an application for a fellowship that supports mental health professionals who want to serve underprivileged and underrepresented communities.
Emphasize in this statement how the fellowship will be used to engage in research that focused on how marginalized mental health professionals struggle to move up in the mental health field, as well as research on how underrepresented populations (race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, etc.) have less access to care, and how you plan to address that gap in resources.
Write it from the perspective of a mental health professional who has worked with underrepresented populations for the majority of their career, including with individuals who receive Medicaid benefits in residential addiction treatment settings, as well as within the legal system in adult and juvenile diversion programs.
