Analyzing Arguments in Op-Eds

Compose a 4-6 paragraph essay, of 750-1000 words, analyzing a New York Times op-ed article. Think of this as your opportunity to dive deep into the art of persuasion and see how arguments are skillfully built. The essay should have a sharp rhetorical analysis thesis statement that maps out the essay structure, crisp topic sentence claims for each body paragraph, clear overall organization, and strong development. Your goal is to move beyond simply summarizing the article and instead illuminate how the author makes their case. Explication of adequate textual evidence must be incorporated within each body paragraph (direct quotations, properly formatted and cited) to develop the analysis. Let the author’s own words be the foundation upon which you build your insightful critique.

The document should be a Word file (doc, docx) in MLA format (Times New Roman 12pt font, 1″ margins, etc.) and be written in formal standard English with an academic audience in mind. Adhering to these formatting guidelines ensures your brilliant ideas are presented with the professionalism they deserve.
