Lim and Arthur are roommates. Both are really into gaming. Knowing that Arthur is a fan of the new PS5, Lim one day decided to prank him over it. Below are the conversations between them:

Lim      : Hey Arthur, what if I tell you that I can buy you a PS5.

Arthur  : Really! That’s so kind of you.

Lim      : I can do that, but there’s a catch.

Arthur  : What is that?

Lim      : I will buy you the console, but in return you have to give me a RM50 note that has

the serial number of AA0000001.

Arthur  : Really Lim? Where can I find that note?

Lim      : That’s for you to figure out. Do you want the PS5?

Arthur  : Alright then. Only if it’s that easy.

Arthur’s sister, Mikhaela, is about to get marry. During the mid semester break, while Arthur is at home, Mikhaela invites Arthur for dinner with Dre, her boyfriend, as part of her plan to introduce Dre to the family. Unknown to Arthur, Dre is a money collector, where he collects rare and classic money. After dinner, Dre invites Arthur & Mikhaela to go to money collectible shops. During the walk, Arthur asks Dre about the RM50 note that was mentioned by Lim. To his surprise, Dre says that he owns that note. Arthur is shocked with the answer and asks him if he can have it. He’s willing to pay for it. At first, Dre is quite reluctant to fulfill the request. But, thinking that by doing so he can win the heart of Mikhaela, which is very significant for his relationship, he agrees to Arthur’s request.

Later that day, Arthur rings Lim and asks him to meet him at Star Hill Mall as he has something to give to Lim. Unknown to Lim, Arthur had asked Dre to bring the note to the location, as he wants to exchange it for a PS5. After a few days, all of them meet at Star Hill Mall. Arthur asks Dre to hand the note to Lim and demands Lim to purchase him a PS5, as per promise. Shocked by Arthur’s ability to track down the note, Lim refuses to fulfill his promise. He says that the note is not Arthur’s and for that reason, the deal is not valid. On top of that, he says that he just want to prank him with the statement that he will buy him a PS5 if he gives him the note.

Discuss whether there is a contract between Lim and Arthur, by looking through the perspective of elements of contract.
