Question 1

The management of a commercial complex has decided to upgrade the existing CCTV surveillance system to an IP-based digital system to enhance building security, recording quality, and remote monitoring capability.  The current CCTV setup consists of analogue cameras connected to DVR units with limited coverage and storage capacity.

As the Project M&E Quantity Surveyor,

(a) Briefly discuss the scope of works required to implement the upgraded IP-based CCTV system, highlighting the main components, installation works, and integration with the existing building network.

(a) Explain the measurement rules and principles that should be applied to quantify the works involved in this CCTV system upgrade, in accordance with the Standard Method of Measurement for M&E Works.

Interpret Figures Q2.1 and Q2.2 in the Appendix and apply suitable measurement techniques to work out the bills of quantities for the following system:

(a) Air Conditioning System

(b) Mechanical Ventilation System
