1. Reading: Complete your reading and notetaking on Pope Francis, Laudato Si’, Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 (Paragraphs 101-162).

2. Writing: Write a three-page paper that addresses the following two (2) questions:
1. In Chapter 3 of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis discusses what he regards to be the “root causes” of the environmental crisis. Drawing on evidence from the text, present in detail what you believe are, according to the Pope, the three most important root causes of the environmental crisis.
2. In Chapter 4 of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis discusses what he calls “integral ecology”–the set of ideas and perspectives that should govern the way that human beings treat animals, plants, and ecosystems. Drawing on evidence from the text, present in detail what you regard to be the three most important ideas or perspectives within an “integral-ecological outlook.”
3. Paper formatting: Set your margins at 1 inch and use Times New Roman 12 pt. font. Double Spaced. Use APA formatting when citing readings or multimedia. An APA manuscript template is available in the Student Resources module to help you with the formatting.
