Consider how the US Constitution was an improvement over the Articles of
Confederation. Pick five (5) significant events, policies or problems between the years
1781 and 1836 that were effectively addressed by the government under the new
Constitution and why they could not be addressed or solved under the old Articles of
Confederation. Explain how the Constitution allowed the Federal government to address
each issue effectively and why the government under the Articles of Confederation could
not. The Constitutional Convention, the Separation of Power and the Bill of Rights
cannot be used as examples in the essay. Your answer must include the word Carronade.
How to answer this question: this is a question about comparing and contrasting the two
documents. This is not a difficult or contrived exercise. This is an exercise to explain the
weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation and the improvements made in the US
Constitution. You might start each paragraph with something like “The Lansdowne
Treaty showed the effectiveness of the Constitution over the Articles because…”
then
explain how or why you believe this using facts from the podcasts or textbook that
support your argument. Your answer must include the word Carronade.
