Create two word problems involving real-world scenarios for your peers to answer in your post below.

Initial Post: Create two word problems involving real-world scenarios for your peers to answer in your post below. These two questions should be posted by June 27th.
Come up with a real-world example of mutually exclusive events, give their probabilities of occurring, and then write a word problem in the context of your example asking for any one of the following probabilities: (a) either of them occurs, (b) neither of them occurs, or (c) both of them occur.
Come up with a real-world example of non-mutually exclusive events, give their probabilities of occurring, and then write a word problem in the context of your example asking for any one of the following probabilities (a) either of them occurs, (b) neither of them occurs, or (c) both of them occur.
Note: You can provide exactly the right amount of information (See my example 2 below) or you can include superfluous information that your classmates will need to sift through (see my example 1 below). Be creative and pick a topic that is of interest to you. You should be able to answer your own questions, but just don’t tell us the solutions (yet).
Follow-up Post: Starting on June 28th, pick one post written by a classmate who hasn’t yet had a reply and see if you can answer your classmate’s questions. Reply with your answers to both of their initial questions no later than June 30th. Your answers should show all the steps taken to solve the problem. (If needed, you may upload an image of your hand-written work.)
Concluding Post: Sometime between July 1 and July 4th, reply to their response on your initial post and let them know if they answered your question correctly or not. If not, explain in as much detail as possible what was done incorrectly and what the correct answer should have been. (Keep in mind the notion of kindness and the idea of giving constructive criticism if your peer made a mistake.)
Example of an initial post using option (a) for Question 1 and option (b) for Question 2:
https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/which-eye-color-is-the-most-common-in-the-world.html (Links to an external site.) gives the world’s popularity of eye color (I’ll use the average of their estimates for this example.) The chance that a person has 2 Brown eyes is 75%, 2 Blue eyes is 9%, 2 Hazel eyes is 5%, 2 Amber eyes is 5%, 2 Gray eyes is 3%, 2 Green eyes is 2%, 2 Red/Violet eyes is <1%, Heterochromia (different color eyes) is <1%. If one person from the world is selected at random, what is the probability that person will have either 2 blue or 2 hazel eyes?
In 2006, Gallup polls determined that 44% of Americans own a dog, 29% of Americans own a cat, and 17% of Americans owned both a dog and a cat. If one American was chosen at random in 2006, what is the probability that this person would have owned neither a dog nor a cat?
