Description

Step One: In-Depth Analysis of a Prevalent Trauma in Your Field

Select and analyse a type of trauma that is widely observed in your professional practice. Ensure it is a different type of trauma from the one discussed in Assignment One.

  • Introduce your chosen trauma by defining its key aspects, interpersonal dynamics, and impact on individuals, whānau, and the broader community.
  • Reflect critically on the consequences of trauma, focusing on its role in creating isolation and fractured relationships. Discuss the significance of belonging (e.g., tūrangawaewae) and attachment (e.g., whānau) for survivors. Apply the Te Whare Tapa Whā model to identify the challenges experienced by survivors in relation to belonging and attachment.

Step Two: Implementing Trauma-Informed/-Responsive Strategies

  • Consider trauma-informed and trauma-responsive approaches, outlining their application in working with survivors affected by your chosen trauma.
  • Identify and discuss at least three key strategies and its implementation in your workplace, supported by academic literature.
