Guidance for completing this assessment

You must use the NBS course submission front sheet with all your submissions. The only way to submit your work is through Dropbox in the BUSI49965 module learning room. Each task will have its dropbox. It will be subjected to analysis by plagiarism software. This will enable us to detect the incorrect use of material(s) from the internet and the use of AI chatbots and other sources for internal consistency across the submitted work. Harvard referencing is required for task 2 only.

Before submitting your written assessment, you should check your originality scores on Turnitin. The Assessment task 2 will have a draft folder where you can submit your final draft for checking. Upon receiving your originality score, you should perform any changes required. Then, you can submit the final version of your work to the respective Dropbox folder.

Learning Outcomes Assessed

This assessment will be based upon Module Learning Outcomes 2, 3 and 4 (MLO2, MLO3, & MLO4) as follows;

  1. Critically self-reflect on the value of global and cultural awareness
    resulting from immersion in an international learning experience for their role as a future global manager.
  2. Demonstrate a critical appreciation of how organisations operating globally are responding to their ethical and sustainability-related responsibilities in respect of business strategy and operations.
  3. Critically evaluate the challenges different environments generate for businesses, individuals and society.

Word count: 2,500 words. Note: + or – 10% of word count is not used across NTU; you must get as close to the total word count as possible without going over.

The purpose of the word count is to support your writing development by encouraging a focus on clarity and conciseness, providing writing experience to a specified word limit, which is standard practice in professional and research environments, and supporting equity in grading work from different individuals.

You must include the word count on the NBS Coursework Front Cover (available in the NOW module learning room) for all of your coursework as an accurate statement of the words used. If you are found to have exceeded the word count to gain an unfair advantage, then your tutor can adjust your grade downward depending on the amount of additional work submitted.

If the additional work is up to 500 words, the overall grade for the piece of work will be reduced by 1 grade point (e.g. UG 2.1-Mid to 2.1-Low; PG Commendation-Mid to Commendation-Low);

If the additional work exceeds 500 words, the overall grade will be reduced by 3 grade points (e.g., 2.1-Mid to 2.2 Mid; PG Commendation-Mid to Pass-Mid).

These penalties will be applied even if the reduced grade is below a pass.

You are advised to submit work that is as close to the maximum word count as practical to demonstrate that you have met all the learning outcomes.

Style, structure and presentation

Whilst this submission is cited as a Written Reflective Assessment, this is in the context that you will be writing about an organisation you have observed during the module and reflecting upon it’s approach to managing complexities in operating in a Global Context. As such, this is not a personal reflection and therefore, should be written in the third person. Words like “I, we, me, my, our…etc” should not appear in your submission.

Academic Integrity and Referencing

To demonstrate academic integrity, you must use the Harvard Referencing style to correctly acknowledge the sources you have included or quoted within your work. See the NTU Harvard Referencing Guide for complete guidance. You must not copy sentences or paragraphs from any source, including previous student assessments that may have been shared with you, and paste these into your work as if they were your own words.

All assignments will be processed through Turnitin similarity testing software, and all cases of suspected plagiarism and suspected commissioning will be investigated thoroughly per NTU’s Academic Integrity policy. You are advised to submit your work to the draft Turnitin Dropbox folder to check the Turnitin similarity report for your work before submission. Further guidance on Plagiarism and Academic Integrity at the NTU NOW learning room is available.

You must declare on the NBS Coursework Front Cover (available from your module NOW Learning Room) if you have used Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to support the development of your assessment. Further guidance on accepted uses of GenAI is available in your module NOW learning room.

Submitting your work

Deadlines are essential and must be strictly adhered to. You must submit assignments on or before the due date indicated by the module leader(s). Submitting your work after the due date/time will be considered a late submission, and penalties will be applied in line with the NTU Quality Handbook Common Assessment Regulations (unless you have been granted an extension via a Notification of Exceptional Circumstance application).

All coursework will be submitted electronically in NOW using the Dropbox facility within each module learning room. There is NO requirement to submit a paper copy. Please submit written work in PDF Format.

For assessment submission, you will be provided with a folder within your learning room Dropbox, which will typically be open for electronic submission of your coursework until 11 pm on the day of submission. When you submit to a Dropbox folder, you will receive a notification and an email within NOW of your submission. Please ensure you keep these emails.
