Health promotion and disease prevention programs focus on keeping people or the population healthy. With healthcare promotion and prevention programs, the DNP can engage and empower people to make changes to reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases or other morbidities. So, what is our role as a DNP in healthcare promotion and prevention? The DNP can implement programs, policies, and resource distribution approaches that impact the population by changing the conditions of risk and by facilitating health improvement or maintenance for the population. This can be within or outside of the health sector. This allows for the DNP to implement innovative care models at multiple levels. Consider the communities in which you reside.
