Two different Dance class observation papers are required in this course. All students must copy/paste the assignment into the text window provided. This assignment should be 2-3 full pages in length. Please do not exceed 4 pages. The goal of the assignment is to write a concise analytical essay. DANCE CLASS OBSERVATION PAPER GUIDELINES
Please note: The 1st paper is only to be written on either Ballet or Modern Dance. Please do not email me asking to write about another dance genre. These are the requirements for this assignment.
For the Dance Class Observation papers, please choose one of the links listed below, or students can message me through CANVAS with a link to an online Dance Class of your choice for approval, by Professor Powell.
Students have the option of viewing an in-person on campus Ballet or Modern Class at the college that is closest to their residence. If you do not feel comfortable doing that, below are several options to choose from to view a class virtually.

Please be sure to include the name of the class observed in the introduction of your essay.
Take notes on the structure of the Dance class that you have chosen to observe.
a. Describe the formation of the dancers at the beginning, middle and end of the class.
b. Describe the etiquette of the class and the attire worn by the dancers.
c. Relate what you see visually in regards to movement vocabulary in the class to the chapters in the text.
d. How does the class progress technically from beginning to end.
e. How does the music affect the movement style and personality of the dancers.
f. Use terminology and reference movement that you have learned about in the lecture readings and video materials.
g. Discuss any new awareness that you discover as a result of your observation.
h. How did the class end. Discussion 8, Ch. 28-29, Due 11/30/21Read the 24th Amendment to the Constitution. Poll taxes were used to prevent African Americans from voting, and the 24th Amendment prevented anyone from creating those barriers. In what ways today do some people attempt to disenfranchise voters? Write a 4-6 sentence paragraph.
Read the Supreme Court ruling from Brown v. Board of Education (Links to an external site.) 1954 (Click on the link). Explain why the court struck down the idea of ‘separate but equal’ ruling of Plessy v. Ferguson, and explain why you think that was an important event in American history. Write a 4-6 sentence paragraph minimum, you may write more if you like.
In the wake of World War II, the United States sent money and resources to Europe in a program called the Marshall Plan. The United States also entered into an alliance called NATO where it pledged to defend Europe against outside hostilities. Recently President Trump called on Germany to pay more into funding NATO and makes claims that foreign countries should bear more of the burden of military defense in Europe. Considering the history of the Cold War, do you think the United States should continue to defend Europe through NATO, or do you think the United States should withdraw troops and financial support from NATO? Write a 4-6 sentence paragraph.
