Washes the commode frame arms, underneath, arms, legs and wheels. (If visibly soiled washes with detergent first, then disinfects)
Rinses well and allows to dry.
Disposes of cloth or returns for laundering as appropriate.
Reports any abnormalities to Supervisor

Covers any cuts with a waterproof plaster

Procedure for the task
Turns on tap and runs tepid water

Criteria
Organization of the task

Prepare chlorine solution e.g. presept 1:1,000pm (2 by 2.5 gram tablets dissolved in 2.5 litres of water,
Prepares detergent for cleaning
Organises RED laundry bag/skip, ALGINATE bag, YELLOW refuse bags, container for healthcare risk waste
Procedure for the task
Places curtains, screens and bed linen/duvet in alginate bag (water soluble bag), secures bag using draw string closure, (air should be expelled from bag before closing to prevent bursting) and then places into a RED laundry bag/skip outside door
Washes and disinfects window blinds
If using vacuum cleaner, ensures it is fitted with HEPA filter
Changes HEPA filter if necessary and updates records
Washes all surfaces (damp dusting method wiping in straight lines and using a figure of eight pattern when wiping main surfaces) including furniture, equipment, bed frame, mattress covers and pillows with general purpose detergent. Ensures wipes underneath lockers, trolleys, chairs etc and ensures to clean wheels and brakes.
Following cleaning disinfects all surfaces, furniture, equipment and patient care equipment with Presept

Criteria (Cleaning up Blood Spill)
Organization of Task
Gathers the necessary PPE equipment: gloves (essential), apron, goggles and mask.
Checks that the correct waste bag is available e.g. yellow for healthcare risk waste.
Gathers items to manage the spillage—disposable paper towels, disinfectant, spillage kit, etc.
Gathers single-incident use disposable scoops.
Prepares appropriate chlorine based disinfectant e.g. presept with a concentration of 10,000 ppm available chlorine
Procedure
Puts on PPE

If spillage large uses paper towel to absorb/contain the fluid.
