While cyberstalking and cyberbullying are related and similar, there are some differences, including the fact that fear is central to the cyberstalking experience.

Cyberstalking Examples
Unwanted and repeated attention that makes you fear for your safety or the safety of someone you know.
Regardless of the nature of the material, repeated and unwelcome communications by text, email, or social media.
Posting private, identifiable, improper, unwelcome, or personal information or photographs of yourself on the internet.
Tracking your real-life activities or location through your postings and/or disclosing such information to others.
Trolling in any online forum to purposefully disturb, anger, or insult you.

Cyberbullying Examples
Receiving threatening, humiliating, mean-spirited, or aggressive texts, emails, or messages via social media.
Receiving or seeing photographs that are embarrassing or make you feel intimidated.
Messages or postings that make you feel bad, propagate rumors, or invite others to do so
Having your identity used to send or post embarrassing or threatening information.

Who is affected?
While it is more widespread among younger populations, online stalking and bullying may affect people of all ages, genders, academic levels, and socioeconomic backgrounds to varied degrees.
