First Drafts: This is your first attempt at Essay Three. Since this is your first serious effort at a gradable essay, some of you will actually earn a grade on this draft (B+ or higher) and not have to complete the next one. If you turn in a draft that matches the assignment, addresses the question, and makes a serious attempt to follow the models for MLA formatting, especially citations, you will be awarded all of the points, even if the draft requires serious revision. If your first draft of essay two or essay three is a finished, polished product, which means it has earned a B+ or higher, I will grade the second draft along with the first draft, and you will not have to rewrite. If you earn all the points on the first draft, but do NOT see a B+ or higher input for your second draft, especially when you see a series of revision notes on your first draft, then you are expected to use the feedback and rewrite. You will then turn in the second draft according to the scheduled due date.  First drafts are not accepted late so there is no second late deadline for this assignment.  The points listed for this draft make it worth 10% of the Essay Two Assignment (with the second/final draft being worth the majority of the points). Essays will be graded according to the Criteria for Essays provided in the Syllabus.  Check your work with the Self-Analysis page.  Essays have three parts: introduction, body, and conclusion. While the introduction and conclusion in short essays are often single paragraphs, the body must be at least two paragraphs to allow for development. Thus, you essay must be a minimum of four paragraphs. A three page essay should not be only four paragraphs. You must write an essay to receive credit for this Assignment.
