Greensboro History Museum- Virtual Tour and Summary
About the Museum
The Greensboro History Museums website is your source for stories and information on the history of the Piedmont North Carolina, particularly Greensboro and Guilford County. The museum celebrates Greensboros local culture and the citys prominent place in American history.
About the Exhibit
You will have the opportunity to virtually visit the “Pieces of Now” Exhibit that is currently at the Greensboro History Museum. Art provides us with the opportunity to express emotions, commemorate history, and reflect on the world around us. In this exhibit, the museums goal is to “preserve the history of 2020 and start to make sense of it.” The exhibit includes street art, artifacts of the pandemic, and images and objects related to protests.
Connection to Unit
In our unit, we are exploring essential ideas to power, protest, and change. We have explored essential questions such as: What motivates people to struggle for change? In what ways do the struggles for freedom change with history? Think of changemakers in history. What qualities do they possess that allow them to create change? How can literature serve as a vehicle for social/political change? How would you define community? What is an individuals responsibility to their community? Think of these essential ideas as you virtually visit this exhibit.
